A LONG SUMMERS DAY IS A GREAT FRIEND

Well the swallows have arrived back in Conamara. We've got thousands of your summer students in the area, and we're delighted that lots of them are sporting our t-shirts and hoodies. The 'Lá fada samhraidh' t-shirt has been extremely popular with young and old over the last couple of years...and it comes in 100% Organic Cotton, Soft-Style t-shirts.

Last year, for the first time, we made a Gaeltacht 2014 design. We were surprised how popular it was, so we've made an even nicer one this year, and it seems to be a big hit, and not only with students. Lots went to America.

For most of the year we are a three person team here in Spailpín HQ. It gets a bit lonely in the winter. Big change now though. We now have most of our summer staff on board.  A dedicated group of young Gaeltacht people who really shake us up in the summer. Make sure to call in if you're in the area. We've got a huge range of great products in our tiny shop.

Scéal na hAimsire. Our new Weather in Ireland t-shirt is a great hit. It's a real conversation piece. It's made up of a very comprehensive list of traditional terms commonly heard on the Raidio na Gaeltachta news. Our good friend and broadcaster at RnaG, Marion Ní Shúilleabháin, supplied us with all this very rich terminology.

A lot happening here at Spailpín HQ, as we get ready for the Christmas season. We want to make sure we have the best selection of 'Earraí Gaelacha' available to you as presents.

As you will see from above, Colm Mac Séalaigh of Na Fíréin fame, has just released a solo album of 18 newly composed songs, under the name 'Aon Scéal?' (Any News?). Styles and themes are varied. He is joined by other Fíréin members on some of the songs. It's well worth having in your collection. An Spailpín Fánach is delighted to be associated with it. It's available from this site, and you can also listen to some sample songs and lyrics can be downloaded from here also.

We're currently developing our online shop. As well as increasing our range of CD titles, we now have a new greeting card section. Lots of cards for various occasions, and we'll be adding to them all the time

It's really lovely here now in Conamara, with the arrival of Autumn. And we still have some visitors around, enjoying the light and quiet time.

The Ceardlann here, where we are based, is looking it's best. This beautiful complex of craft workshops, is celebrating 30 years since it's establishment. Together with the 10 craftshops, we've also got an award-winning café, An Builín Blasta. It's really worth a visit.see our website at www.ceardlann.com

We came up with a lot of new designs this summer, some of which are now online, and, as you can see from above, we also have a new Seanfhocal, or Irish proverb, "Galar gan náire an tart' (There's no shame in having a good thirst), and yes, we are talking about thirst not drunkenness. It's available on 100% Organic Cotton t-shirts as well as high quality sweatshirts and hoodies.

Well the summer has really hit in now in earnest. Long may it last.

Our area here is full of young people learning Irish. They bring a lovely lively atmosphere to the place. We love to welcome them to our shop, as well as their parents, when they come to visit. Fáilte romhaibh ar fad.

As you can see above, we have brought back our lovely summery design, "A long summer's day is a sweet friend" It's available in both standard and fitted organic t-shirts. We have some more lovely designs in our shop but not online yet i'm afraid. (We're just too busy).

We're really flat out printing hoodies for the Irish colleges at present Nice designs wioth the name of the college and the year. Great souvenirs for the young people. We're also very proud that this year we have an all Irish speaking crew. All 10 of us, from Conamara, Árainn, Dublin and even Austria. All bilingual and more.
